We acknowledge The Ren Clinic occupies the unceded land of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians, specifically the Cowlitz and Clackamas peoples. What we now call Portland, Oregon and Multnomah county are ancestral lands of the Multnomah, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Tumwater, Tualatin Kalapuya, Wasco, Molalla, Watlala bands of the Chinook, and many other nations of the Nch’i Wana (“The Big River”) also known as the Columbia.
We acknowledge we are on this land because of the forced removal of its traditional peoples by colonists and settlers, and we acknowledge the systemic policies of genocide, relocation, and assimilation that still impact many Indigenous/Native American families today. We recognize the strong and diverse Native communities and healers in our region today and offer respect and gratitude for their stewardship of these lands– past, present and future.
